Dr. Harold E. Doweiko is a licensed psychologist who has been on staff at the Gundersen-Lutheran medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin, for 19 years, working with the substance abuse rehabilitation program, the chronic pain management program, and the traditional adult mental health patients, including “dual diagnosis” patients. He has served with the La Crosse (Wisconsin) County Drug Court for several years, and as a professional witness on the topic of substance use disorders for federal and state courts in Kansas, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Dr. Doweiko has served as an adjunct faculty member for colleges in both Wisconsin and Minnesota, most recently with the Viterbo University counselor education program in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

This book is so poorly written, my first thought was it must have been a pirated copy written by foreigners who don’t know any English at all. However, I see that others have had the exact same experience. There was absolutely zero money spent on an editor or proofreader; the grammar is deplorable, the content is extremely repetitive, and the organization is unprofessional. If this quality of writing had been turned into any of my professors, it would immediately be graded as failing. How it came to be chosen as a textbook is beyond my comprehension.

The book is excellent. Would not recommend for someone not in the field, as it is more research information than they would be likely to absorb. It is upper level Psychology and not for the sociology or other majors as it is too in depth with the latest research. It is a book a student could use throughout their internships for reference materials because it has all the the treatment models and drugs.

This book is full of typos, sentence fragments, and run-on sentences. I can hardly believe it is a "teacher’s copy"; it would drive any intelligent person crazy.
The material covered is unclear and does not sufficiently explain the material.

The Making of Star Wars: The Definitive Story Behind the Original Film (Star Wars)

I was four years old when the original "Star Wars" was released, and like so many kids of that generation, that film and its two sequels defined an enormous part of my childhood. Even though I didn’t know it at the time, it introduced me to the "best bits" of classical mythology, while being a visual catalyst for my imagination (and years of subsequent role-play, particularly in Upstate New York, where re-enacting ice planet Hoth after "Empire" came out was all too easy…).

As I grew older (I hesitate to use the phrase "grew up," as I’m not sure it’s happened yet), I came to appreciate more than just the adventure and dynamic visuals that "Star Wars" represented; it was my "gateway drug" into wanting to learn more about how movies were made. I remember all of the TV specials of that era that pulled back the curtain on the filmmaking process, particularly with regard to the original "Star Wars" trilogy, and I couldn’t get enough information. That hunger became the same kind of obsession that’s typically associated with "Star Wars" fans, and I absorbed every scrap of detail I could find, from Ralph McQuarrie’s concept art, to model photos, to script pages, and even before the Internet made it only a matter of a few clicks to access such information, there was a wealth of it, when it came to "Star Wars.
Overview

This is a fantastic work, which spans the origins and creation of the film and includes insights into nearly every aspect of the filmmaking process. A true archive of both information and visuals, it is, in my opinion, a book that should be in the collection of every fan of the film. Highest recommendation.

This review is broken down by the following group areas – Written Content, Visual Collateral, Presentation/Quality, and Overall Value – focuses on the perspective of the original prop hobbyist, in that sometimes we are looking for photos pertaining to real, original props and editorial content is of less interest; other times, in performing research, we may be seeking information more so than photos, etc.

Written Content (10/10)

This is, quite frankly, the most impressive and comprehensive Star Wars resource I have ever laid hands on. Whereas the legendary Star Wars Chronicles set the mark some time ago, in my opinion, in terms of visual collateral and photos, it had little by way of actual written content – just remarks about the stunning photography and images.

This book matches the visual collateral in quality (though not sheer quantity) but far exceeds in the realm of pure information, narrative, background, insights, opinions, and more. You truly can’t appreciate it until you begin flipping through this book – it’s just astounding.

If anything, the reader gains an appreciation for how impossible it seems to be that the final product is what it is, in that it was such a collaborative process that underwent constant change and alteration, and it had so much stacked against it throughout the creation of the film.

I am an avowed and unapologetic fan of "Entourage," regardless of how much people seem to want you to apologize for being one. The show seems to have struck a raw nerve with certain cultural factions, who see it in a representation of everything they hate (an alternate title for the show that I have suggested, based on Facebook and Twitter commentary about the program: "Hipster Kryptonite"). A fact that a lot of the show’s critics fail to understand, or choose to ignore, is that the hook of the whole enterprise lies in its sincere and unrepentant celebration of all of the excesses and evils of Hollywood that are 100% true, but which many in "the industry" would never openly ally themselves with. You can accuse "Entourage" and its makers of many sins, but unlike most of Hollywood, hypocrisy is not one of them.

This book, "written" by former super-agent and ever-Master of the Universe Ari Gold, is essentially every modern "how to succeed in business" book shot in the crotch with HGH. The writing nicely captures the unrepentantly egotistical alpha-male persona of Gold, while offering some surprisingly cogent and solid advice for success in business and in the world at large. Ari’s 18 "Rules to Rule By" include such at-first-amusing but undeniable nuggets as "Either You Know It All, Or You Blow It All," "Tell the Important Part of the Truth," and the 100% accurate "Never Be An A**hole In Writing.

I am an avowed and unapologetic fan of "Entourage," regardless of how much people seem to want you to apologize for being one. The show seems to have struck a raw nerve with certain cultural factions, who see it in a representation of everything they hate (an alternate title for the show that I have suggested, based on Facebook and Twitter commentary about the program: "Hipster Kryptonite"). A fact that a lot of the show’s critics fail to understand, or choose to ignore, is that the hook of the whole enterprise lies in its sincere and unrepentant celebration of all of the excesses and evils of Hollywood that are 100% true, but which many in "the industry" would never openly ally themselves with. You can accuse "Entourage" and its makers of many sins, but unlike most of Hollywood, hypocrisy is not one of them.

This book, "written" by former super-agent and ever-Master of the Universe Ari Gold, is essentially every modern "how to succeed in business" book shot in the crotch with HGH. The writing nicely captures the unrepentantly egotistical alpha-male persona of Gold, while offering some surprisingly cogent and solid advice for success in business and in the world at large. Ari’s 18 "Rules to Rule By" include such at-first-amusing but undeniable nuggets as "Either You Know It All, Or You Blow It All," "Tell the Important Part of the Truth," and the 100% accurate "Never Be An A**hole In Writing.

I rented this for a University course "Cultural Foundations of Education" and after the first chapter I knew I would be using it later on in my career and I began to highlight… now I will have to buy it.

I guess it’s a fine book, but a professor could easily save their students $100 by referring them to readings online, this seems to be a pretty surface level overview of a bunch of stuff that has already been discussed. Did I need this book to learn about the Jeffersonian Ideal, or Horace Mann? Absolutely not, there are countless pages published on these topics that would have cost significantly less.
Wishing professors would wise up and quit wasting our money.

Be very careful when renting textbooks, I received a water-damaged book not thinking anything of it and now I am charged 200 plus dollars and I’m pretty sure there isn’t any way that I can fight it because I didn’t take pictures of the book before hand

Good cure for insomnia. Lots of good info though and I love the back sections of the book that have handy "cheat sheets" for RA professionals.

For the price they charge for textbooks, I would have hoped this was at least available in a hardcover format. However I agree with the other reviewer: Good cure for insomnia.
