Dershowitz tells it like it is, intelligently and principled, without political bias. I most liked and appreciated the discussion of the most important questions of the current Trump era presidency that is done intelligently and free of the hypocrisy and hyperpartisanship that rules the media and so many of the self-proclaimed pundits who discuss the issues that are so concerning to all of us. Professor Dershowitz has shown the danger inherent in the justification of the breaking and even bending of Constitutional and legal principles to facilitate attacks on President Trump. I found the spread of that kind of thinking into academia especially dangerous. It is a tour that explains, teaches and provokes thinking about many important things and should be required reading for all the members of Congress and all citizens anxious to preserve our democracy.I wondered what happened to the ACLU. Prof. Dershowitz explained it. In a discussion of the danger of breaking the rules to accomplish an assumed justifying end, he discussed the unholy alliance between The FBI and mob boss Whitey Bulger. I come from Boston and thought I knew all about that arrangement. I didn’t and that example provoked a new understanding. There are many other subjects like “flipping minor criminals” to get bigger ones that will provide a better understanding of the process and the dangers inherent in doing it. All in all, whether you like Trump and what he’s doing or despise him and everything about him, you should read this discussion of what’s going on to better understand the dangers that will follow from a failure to properly follow the law.Before all the facts are in...? It's sad that Prof. Dershowitz has gone to such great lengths to make a defense against potential impeachment proceedings being instituted against President Trump both BEFORE all the facts have been uncovered and the Special Counsel has completed the report on his investigations AND when, nearly daily, facts ARE uncovered that are making a pretty clear case that the President MUST be impeached because of the clear and growing patterns of crimes/misdemeanors and just maybe even Treason those facts increasingly point to. I can understand and appreciate a book at this time on how we should interpret impeachment of a president according to the Constitution, history, and vis-a-vis other interpretations, and moreover on how critical it is that such proceedings should only be instituted when certain standards have been met and the dangers to the Republic when not enough care is taken if and when such a process has begun. But it really makes you wonder just what Professor Dershowitz is actually trying to accomplish when he comes right out with "The Case Against the Democratic House Impeaching Trump" before general, necessary, and long-overdue congressional oversight hearings have begun, administration and campaign and Trump organization officials have been invited or subpoena'd to give testimony, and, as I said and every day exemplifies, there is a growing continent of evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that President Trump has acted and directed others to commit crimes etc. Finally, I cannot but see it as erroneous that a President can only be impeached and removed from office for commission of crimes during their term in office, as Prof. Dershowitz suggests in his book. I am not expert on all standards of impeachment for other government officials, but applying a time limit on top of normal statutory limitations seems clearly ridiculous and very unlikely to have been the intent of the Founders. Surely, Prof. Dershowitz, you're not saying that, let's say if the Speaker of the House, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, or a cabinet official instituted a secret coup against the President and Vice President, thereby becoming President or Vice President in the line of succession, which was later uncovered during their term, but while they did not commit any crimes while serving as President/Vice President, that they wouldn't be liable for impeachment by the House and conviction and removal by the Senate?

beautifully written and inspirational. I downloaded this book to learn more about the homeless culture as a future therapist. I could not have happened upon a more perfect book. Ms. Murray wrote a poignant, detailed, beautiful memoir, often narrating from the perspective of a child with parents addicted to drugs. I feel that I learned more from her memoirs then I ever could from college texts or scholarly articles. She also gives the readers an inspirational true story of triumph and grace over adversity. I was humbled by her compassion(rather than resentment) for her addict parents.Dog stories and drug survivor stories are being over done. Breaking night is the story of a child who survives being rearedby parents who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. I gave the book 4 stars stars because it is good, BUT.....it is no different fromall of the other stories about children, parents and drugs. Theyall are heart breaking. The children suffer and are effected forthe rest of their lives. Also, I find it hard to believe that the stories are not exaggerated. I have to wonder about memoirs,The Glass Castle, even "The Death of Santini"---both, great reading.I reviewed and liked both books. But lets face it,these are writers, story tellers, and they have a story to tell.Liz Murray tells her life story very very well. She writes, the story flowsand the reader is captivated. The first part of the book is betterthan the second, The first is her struggle and the second is her schooling and her success. The book was a compelling read, I liked itand I certainly think Liz is amazing.An Absolute Must-Read: A Story of Hope Amidst Horror Much like "The Glass House" (Jeannette Walls) and "Coming Clean" (Kimberly Rae Miller), "Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival, and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard" is a horrific, but incredibly inspiring, true story of how one little girl is emotionally and then physically abandoned by her parents and yet somehow grows up functional--so functional she goes to Harvard. Liz Murray spent more time cutting school than attending classes, doing all she could to get her drug-addicted mother to pay attention to her, surviving without a working shower/bathtub and stealing clothes and food because the family's money was spent on drugs and booze. And somehow social services never intervened until she was 13--even though many of those in authority knew what was going on in the house. I am so impressed with Liz Murray's fortitude and gumption. It would have been so easy to repeat her mother's story; instead, she created her own and it is a truly astounding one. Homeless from the age of 15, she managed to go back to school, graduate, win a New York Times scholarship and go to Harvard. Reading this book will make you both cry and laugh and feel both ashamed and encouraged--but most of all, it will give you hope. We humans are tough cookies!
