When times are bad, people still need shaving equipment, soap, toothpaste and a whole host of goods related to everyday living.Many economic systems have some form of negation(s). For instance, Gosplan struggled with State planning quotas which tended to be too bureaucratic and burdened with politics and structural inefficiencies. In addition, the Ural Mountains were a natural divide between the more advanced knowledge based economies of communities west of the Urals versus the diverse peoples living east of the Urals.China had great challenges in replicating the economic and educational successes in the coastal areas with inland communities like the yurts. In addition, great flooding and earthquakes posed cataclysmic living disruptions.Overall, "The Age of Surveillance Capitalism" by Shoshana Zuboff dissects some of the most criticized aspects of capitalism over the centuries in favor of promoting the common good in global commerce.Our system is not imperfect in every sense. Civil litigation provides consumers with a legal forum to "even the playing field" with business entities. In civil litigation, consumers can challenge hidden fees, unlawful charges, the failure to honor guarantees, undisclosed product problems in operability and many other manufacturing negations or problem sets.

His ability is severely limited in terms of the types of creatures he can control, and how many. Most monsters have always been beyond him.

And then one day he accidentally breaks a monster girl. Doors begin to open for him faster than he thought possible…

Note: this book contains harem elements. The main character certainly isn't shy around women, and the magic system is unique in ways you might not expect. Also, the story can get a tad dark in places.

An attempt to write a "different" plot failed. Breaker is another "harem fantasy" tale. But I will admit it tries to avoid some of the tropes of these tales which can turn them into cardboard cutout tales with characters stamped out by "tropes'r'us".The problem is that a huge part of that change was to make the hero far closer to an "anti-hero" with him being a vagrant due to some mysterious "darkness" that follows him and kills those near him.And I can pretty much point to that as the problem. This is a harem tale with an unlikeable hero. He's not heroic. He's not adorkably clumsy. He's a hard-boiled detective type from a bad film noir movie who can't really carry the tale because the MacGuffin he's sent after is terrible.I read it through, and at the end, I was quick to remove it from my kindle. It's definitely not a book I would recommend to even fervent fans of the genre.Difficult to rate for me. Gotta say, this is the second Isaac Hooke book I've read. The concepts he writes about are interesting. I just for the life of me can't get into his narrative. I'm really happy to say "It's not him, it's me". The books are well written, well edited, but I can't get involved in the premise as much as I hoped from the description. His characters can come across a bit one dimensional and non-sympathetic, but again, I'm willing to take the blame on reading that. I'd say if you like the genre, try him. He's by no means a slap dash, forgot to edit, I'm just riding the wave of the genre writer. He's skilled and competent, but apparently just not my cup of tea.Much better than I had thought (some spoilers) I have only read one other book by Mr. Hooke, which I liked, but not enough to continue a 4 books series. It was a SF based on some star wars ideas, even though the power described there was more like magic. This book is fantasy, a genre I have come to like more and more. From some other books I have read with Harem elements, I thought that meant "Fantasy porn" but this book was light on that aspect. The idea of breaking I have seen with other beastmaster concepts, but Mr. Hooke makes his unique. His concept is more a battle of wills, and has some slight RPG element to it in that he has slots, and different creatures cost more slots to break. I liked that bit of difference.I thought the characters were great, because they are not cookie cutters. The MC is not a hero, or quite an anti-hero. He is tormented, and rationalizes bad deeds, but this is very human and seemed like what might happen to a real person.His relationships with the Harem are complex and more than just sex, just as his relationship with his animals is not just master and servant.The magic system falls into "elemental controlling" style and a Dark Magic that seems a little generic, but it all falls into place, and I personally liked it.All in all, much better than I expected. I do believe I will continue this series.

Despite all this, Mokhtar Alkhanshali has managed to grow, process, and export many tons of high-quality coffee from Yemen to the United States.The history of coffee began in YemenEthiopia, the huge country across the Red Sea from Yemen, lays claim to having originated coffee production in the 9th century based on a flimsy legend of a goatherd who chewed on the beans and got high. But the historical evidence is stronger for Yemen's contention that the industry was launched five hundred years ago by "the Monk of Mokha." Mokha (or Mocha) is a port on the Red Sea coast of Yemen. There, according to legend, a Sufi holy man named Ali Ibn Omar al-Shadhili "first brewed the bean into a semblance of what we now recognize as coffee." Over the centuries, cultivation of the coffee plant moved (mostly by outright theft) from Yemen to many other countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Meanwhile, coffee production steadily declined in Yemen both in quantity and quality. When Mokhtar became animated by the obsession to import "specialty" (high-quality) coffee from Yemen, the country's output had gained a reputation for highly uneven quality and often simply bad taste. Coffee farmers there had been abandoning the crop in droves."I will resurrect the art of Yemeni coffee and restore it to prominence throughout the world," Mokhtar had confided to a friend. This book has come out at a timely manner. I want to address the critic that stopped reading the book because of facts regarding Treasure Island. Both Dave Eggers and the critic are correct with dates: Treasure Island started to be built in 1936 (Dave’s date in the book) but wasn’t complete until later (critic’s date in the review). Please if you are going to write such a negative review and discourage people from reading, please be more careful in your facts as well. In any case, the story is amazing and this one area of the book should not stop anyone from reading it.

This book is the foundation for changing my life. You don't realize you're changing unless you start doing the journaling; then you look back and realize how much this has actually changed your life.I think this is a very nurturing and simple process to address deep wounds in your life. It's quite woo-woo so if you're the practical, logical or science driven mind - it might be too much for you. This book requires you to come in with an open mind on her way of healing. A lot of it is spiritual....But if you can envision something beyond just the tangible world, if you can learn to be kind to yourself - it really does work.I read some of Lousie Hay's you can heal your life book and I found it a lot more condensed in thoughts to process. This book is great in that it focuses on singular pieces each day, giving you time to fully digest each and every piece throughout the day.It's also great to go back on your favorite affirmations once you've completed the book.This book overall is a great starting point to healing and clearing away all the old things in your life. I think of it as clearing away the old stuff in order to build a new foundation for yourself. I don't think you'll be fully healed and @ 100% if you read this but it will give you a great starting point to begin living a healthier life.Getting to know Me - see me, love me So far I've done two days & it's weird. First I thought "I seem like my mom - anxious" then I felt "I really have dark circles under my eyes." Well this isn't to say I'm critical - which was my first observation about these observations - but instead the first step to loving someone is seeing them. Sometimes when I visit my mom she'll tell me I look tired but I never know what to do with that info. I sleep alright. I eat mostly veggies & meditate daily & teach yoga & have a six figure salary doing what I love in my chosen profession - law - & I have community & faith & good health, I'm moving in with my boyfriend who ive known for 25 years & we are building a beautiful life together in a new beautiful city - so what's wrong? I hope that my mirror work leads me to identifying the patterns & habits that I should do more of toward creating a healthier happier self. I know I struggle with worth & religion saved me but ive never looked in my eyes to figure out what I really need. I wonder what will come out of seeing my self.Finally finished I bought this a few years ago. It took me this long to finish. It is a book you can do again and again. This time I decided not to overwhelm myself with mirror work, journaling, AND meditation. Imperfectly done is better than none at all. Life changing book. Love it!
